More about being a Gluten-Free Vegetarian
What is Celiac Disease?
Celiac disease is an autoimmune disorder of the small intestine that causes its sufferers to be intolerant to gluten. A range of other less common conditions can also cause gluten intolerance.
Celiac’s patients can not eat wheat, rye, barley and other related grains, although cereals such as maize (corn), quinoa, millet, buckwheat or rice can be a healthy replacement.
Wheat flour alternatives
As gluten intolerance becomes more common there are wheat flour alternatives more readily available through standard supermarkets or health food shops.
These include flours made from legumes, vegetables or grains that do not contains gluten - such as corn flour, buckwheat flour, potato flour, rice flour and many others.
Although some of our recipes utilise these flours we are trying to produce a resource that is more than just normal recipes exchanged with gluten-free ingredients.
Our recipes are specifically designed to be vegetarian, gluten-free and delicious!
Who are these cookbook for?
Our recipes and cookbooks are aimed at people who are vegetarian and who also wish to live gluten-free, whether this is due to Celiac disease or simply for general health and wellbeing.
Everything we make strives to be delicious and easy to create yourself. We cook mostly with ingredients that we can find in our local supermarket or health-food shop.
Whether for a quick and healthy lunch or a special family dinner - we’ve tested each recipe and taken care to include only the ones that consistently work well and taste great.
