Orgran brand All-Purpose Gluten-Free Pastry

I bought a box of Orgran's All-Purpose Gluten-Free Pastry mix at our local Safeway (Woolworths) supermarket and tried it out last weekend.

It's made from a mixture of different flours and starches with a few vegetable gums thrown in as well.

I made it into a savoury shortcrust pastry for a pie, although the packet had instructions to make sweet shortcrust and a flaky puff pastry as well.

It came out pretty well - not quite as soft as wheat pastry but not so much that you'd care or even notice. In fact it could just be my skills that made it a bit tough, I'm not much of a pastry chef anyway.

Definitely worth buying if you love real pies or miss pastry! i'm going to buy another packet and try the puff pastry version.

It's near the bottom of this page if you want to see what the packet looks like: http://www.orgran.com/product-information/packet-mixes.html
